“We’re here to help you feel good about yourself again—that’s our mission.”
Sakara Life was founded in 2011 by Whitney Tingle and Danielle DuBoise with the desire to create a platform for people wanting to take charge of their health while supporting local farmers and the environment.
"It is a 100% female-owned and operated company. All of our meals are made in an awesome Brooklyn kitchen.
Since launching we have focused on servicing a private group of celebrities, models and top financiers, helping them to stay young, healthy and in star-quality shape. With the success of the launch we now offer our services to a larger group of clients in New York City (exciting!). We are still keeping delivery sign up limited to ensure that you and your food get all the love and attention you both deserve."—Whitney & Danielle
Sakara Co-founders, Whitney and Danielle, grew up together in the beautiful town of Sedona, Arizona, where they were exposed to the benefits of natural eating and holistic health from an early age. After moving to New York, they knew they needed to share their knowledge with the fast-paced, delivery-loving, eat-outers of Manhattan.
Danielle was applying for med school and interning for a cardiologist at an NY hospital when she realized that she wanted to take her desire to help people in a different direction. As a young model and actress working through college, Danielle quickly discovered that she could no longer sweep all of her crash dieting and body image issues under the rug, so she decided to face all of them head-on. Trudging through the ups and the downs of trendy diets, fasts and the incessant evil voice that kept telling her she wasn’t skinny/pretty enough she learned a BIG lesson—Finding balance is the ONLY way to create an environment for positive change and self-acceptance. Through the process of eating balanced, organic meals Danielle found a way to nurture and facilitate the self love needed to stop stressing about every calorie, every meal, every diet, every pair of skinny jeans, every angle of the camera (the list goes is on and on). It’s a journey, she’s on it and she wants to share it, which is what brought her to co-create a company that brings healthy food right to your doorstep.
Whitney was working on Wall Street when she realized her true passion was to share her love of health with the financiers who desperately needed her help. She knows what it takes to fight for health in a stressful environment. She had gained 15 pounds working in the corporate office, and was struggling with cystic acne. She had seen every dermatologist in the city and tried everything from antibiotics, to birth control pills, to acupuncture acid peels, lights and lasers. And when her dermatologist suggested that she do a second round of Accutane, she decided there had to be a better way. She turned to her best friend, Danielle, to partner and create a meal plan that allowed her to drop the weight and clear her skin while maintaining her busy lifestyle. As if that wasn’t enough she also decided to find her zen while she studied to become a certified yoga instructor. Go ahead, ask her for a stock tip while you’re in downward dog...
